Finger Joint & Re-manufacturing

Re-Manufacturing is a key component of the lumber manufacturing industry. Back-haul opportunities resulting from construction of the port in Prince Rupert make re-man an increasingly attractive investmnet.

Del-Tech is an industry leader in finger jointing solutions. We supply a variety of products for processing trim blocks to make them ready for the joining process. Our equipment will enable you to use planer mill trim ends to produce 2×3, 2×4, and 2×6 dimensional lumber. These are frequently used to develop pre-fab roof trusses, studs, 20’ cut lengths, door frames, window frames, etc.

Block Unscrambler
The Block Unscrambler is another innovation from Del-Tech to improve efficiencies at re-manufacturing mills. The Del-Tech Block Unscrambler is designed to singulate trim blocks 10” to 24” in length, and 2” x 4” to 2“x 12” in width. Our unscramblers are shipped fully assembled, tested and ready for business.

Ripsaw
Del-Tech has developed a line of Ripsaws to aid in Finger Jointing operations. Ripsaws are used to convert random width trim ends and other short material into uniform width components for finger jointing blanks.

The Del-Tech Ripsaw comes in three models; M-4 model (2 to 7 saws), M-3 model (2 to 3 saws), and the M-2 model (2 saws). The M-4 is designed to efficiently handle short materials and can be set up with a manual or automatic in-feed system. We offer the complete supply and maintenance of Ripsaws and Ripsaw parts.

Profiler
The Del-Tech Profiler is designed to cut a 2” radius on 1” X 2”, 1” X 3” and 1” X 4“s for bed frames. Both heads are adjustable with air cylinders and have a 4” diagonal pivoting cutting head. The machine is hand fed (4) boards at a time. Both ends are radiused at the same time. Our profilers are shipped tested and fully assembled.

Lug Loader
The Del-Tech Lug Loader is designed to load trim ends onto a finger joint in-feed deck without marking boards. Lug Loaders are a cost effective solution to bottlenecks at your in-feed.

Planer Mill

Deltech builds whole planer complexes. We are happy to quote on planer mill jobs of any size. Our expertise will help you to turn rough lumber into finished product, while eliminating bottle-necks and reducing operational costs.

Our equipment, which is developed, tested and manufactured in house, meets all industry tolerances. We develop customized plant solutions from the rough lumber in-feed, right up to packaging of finished product.

Lumber Wrap Dispenser

The Lumber Wrap Dispenser has become a corner-stone to Del-Tech’s product profile. Our LWP’s are used a various planer mills throughout BC, Alberta and Washington State; including 8 Canfor and 7 Weyerhauser sites.

The Deltech Lumber Wrap Dispenser is designed to accurately dispense paper lengths ( ± 1/8” ) to reduce paper waste and achieve maximum usage. Various roll configurations are available to suit the customers individual requirements: 2 to 12 roll versions and custom widths.

Our exclusive design allows you to guide paper rolls precisely by two adjustable end plates. No inner core or spindle is necessary. This results in rapid re-load times and wrap dispensed on the true package centreline. Paper storage is provided as part of the system, also reducing load times.

The paper guide path is coated with a low friction, anti-static paint. The unit also comes with a replaceable ionizing cord. This prevents static build up from the paper.

Variable speed hydraulic and frequency drive models are available. Del-Tech lumber wrap dispensers are shipped pre-wired, fully assembled and tested with integral electronic controls. Graphical controls are easy to use and adjust.

Our LWPs come with a two year warranty from the date of shipment.

Log Handling & Processing

Deltech develops unique feed lines to process cut-to-length or tree-length logs. Our log handling equipment covers from direct in-feed of raw resources, to secondary processing, to finished rough lumber.

Cut Off Saws
Improve productivity when processing raw logs with a custom Cut Off Saw. Complete saw and maintenance packages are available.

The Deltech “E” Style Cut Off Saw is fabricated from HSS tubing with 1/2” formed side plates. The frame supports the lower log clamps, the pivoting saw arm, and the saw clamp guard. The pivoting saw arm is box channel construction complete with 3 7/16” diameter saw arbor, 12” collars and an adjustable motor base (removable belt guard included). As the Hydraulic or air cylinder actuation arm retracts, it contacts the guard through a shock absorbing bumper lifting it back to park position. The lower log clamps lift the log to prevent pinching as the log is cut through. Maintenance costs are minimal, and installation is easy.

Roto Loader
The Deltech RotoLoader is a robust system used to feed and present logs, one at a time, to any type of log processing system. Our RotoLoader can solve bottlenecks at your in-feed and help to eliminate downtime.

The unique design of the RotoLoader allows moving mechanical components to be protected from falling debris. Our Rotoloader also does not make use of any specially made cam followers, wheels, or guides of any kind, which provides our customers with a significant savings on maintenance costs. If any spare parts are required, they are stock standard and require no lead time on orders.

Custom Machinery

Deltech has the engineering resources and industry expertise to develop equipment for the forestry and mining industries. We have a mining engineer on staff, and decades of experience in lumber manufacturing.

Deltech is highly skilled in manufacturing production methods. We are pleased to be able to offer general and specific solutions for our customers in managing process flows. We can help you identify and solve constraints in your manufacturing line, improve throughput, and control inventory.

Screw Conveyors
Deltech is pleased to provide the fabrication of all types of screw conveyors. Our screw conveyors come with years of engineering experience, proven performance, and easy installation. Complete maintenance packages on our screw conveyors and generic conveyors are also available.

Screw conveyors are used to transfer ash, chips, sawdust or hog fuel. Screws over 24 feet long are supplied with Cooper split hanger bearings. Screws can be supplied complete with troughing and drive units. Flights are from 3/16, 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2” mild steel and 1” CHT 100 plate. Flights are welded to 4”, 6” or 8” pipe and are supplied complete with stub shafts.

Control Systems
Deltech can design and build control packages for any project. We have the capability to program most common programmable logic controllers (PLC) on the market today. We supply complete turn-key programming projects, as well as upgrades and code modifications to many existing PLC systems. We also have a complete CSA approved panel building shop, to provide PLC build-ups when required.

Deltech provides engineering of variable frequency drive systems (VFD’s) as well as simple construction to pre-engineered or client supplied specifications. The experienced Deltech Control Systems technical staff also provide clients with technical support, troubleshooting, onsite commissioning and start-up assistance, as well as consulting on existing or future systems.

All Del-Tech control systems are tested prior to shipping and are provided with complete wiring and mechanical construction drawings.

Machining
Del-Tech has full machining capabilities, with a state-of-the-art machine shop and tenured machinists. Our in-house electrical engineering capabilities allow for significant cost reductions and operational improvements for our clients.
